The beginning

From a first glimpse onboard to a career of her own.

Lisa's first glimpse of life onboard came in the autumn of 2011, when, at 16, she completed a school work-placement aboard the yacht where her older sister, Yacht Pathway founder Malin Pernheim, was working.

Four years later, in 2015, she travelled to Palma de Mallorca, completed her STCW and began her own professional career in yachting.

What followed was nine years across motor and sailing yachts, private and charter programmes, and vessels ranging from smaller, multi-role crews to highly structured yachts of around 80 metres and beyond.

Working through the interior department, she held positions including Second Stewardess, senior service roles, Chief Stewardess and Relief Chief responsibilities. Her work included service, housekeeping, laundry, guest care, team leadership and guiding more junior crew.

02

Across the industry

A career measured in movement, not one fixed route.

Her years at sea reached beyond the traditional Mediterranean and Caribbean seasons, across different yacht types, programmes and ways of working.

Industry Advisor

“You don’t need to know everything when you step onboard. But you do need to listen, ask questions and be willing to learn.”

Lisa experienced the industry both as a junior crew member learning and later as a senior crew member responsible for guiding others.

She stepped away from full-time yachting at the end of 2023. As Industry Advisor, she brings that recent onboard perspective into Yacht Pathway, helping review what we teach and prepare new crew for the realities of working onboard.
